When I try to turn on the laptop, the screen does not light up at all. It stays black, but the boot light next to the laptop lights up and the Caps lock lights up five times slowly and three times quickly. This condition indicates that the built-in controller cannot access the BIOS within the time limit. I opened the laptop to remove the battery and discharge the excess charges, but to no avail. I tried to boot the device through the BIOS, but it did not work. I also tried to restore the BIOS by pressing Windows + B, but to no avail. I tried to update the BIOS manually via a USB drive. To restore it does not work.
What is the solution? Can someone help me please
Important Note: Before the problem occurred, the laptop was installing some updates and it said "Please do not turn off the computer until the update is complete." I had to close the laptop without turning it off and the next day I realized the laptop was not working.

Hello @Malmasri , how are you ?
The error mentioned is a failure in the BIOS and it was corrupted during the update process.
You can contact HP and request warranty support if it is still active.
If it is not, a technical assistant can correct the failure after an update and appropriate software in an attempt to restore.

Hi @Malmasri,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP 15 laptop is experiencing a BIOS issue, likely due to the update interruption. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Hard Reset
- Disconnect the laptop from any power source.
- Remove the battery if it's removable.
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any remaining electrical charge.
- Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning the laptop on again.
Check for Beep Codes
- The pattern of Caps Lock light blinking (five times slowly and three times quickly) is a diagnostic code indicating a BIOS issue. This specific pattern might suggest a BIOS corruption issue.
Perform BIOS Recovery
Try these steps for BIOS recovery:
- Power on the laptop and immediately press the Windows key + B key simultaneously.
- Continue pressing these keys until the recovery screen appears.
If this method does not work, consider the following alternative:
- Using a BIOS Recovery USB Drive:
- Create a BIOS recovery USB drive on another computer by downloading the latest BIOS version for your laptop model from HP's official website.
- Follow the instructions provided by HP to prepare the USB drive.
- Insert the USB drive into the non-working laptop and try the BIOS recovery process again.
External Monitor Test
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor to check if the issue is related to the laptop screen or if the problem is internal.
- If the external monitor shows the display, the issue may be with the laptop's internal display or related components.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
