Ever since yesterday my laptop (windows 11, HP) hasn't been able to be turned on. No caps lock light, charger light turns on when plugged in and light on the side only turns on once as if it's working but soon after turns off then on again and then back off again in that order. I tried the windows+ B method, Hard reset, turning it on without charger, turning it on with charger, letting it sit open and closed, holding and tapping the power button all to no avail. Even when charging it usually the computer would warm up but it's not even doing that anymore!

 

I don't know what to do?? I only had the computer for a year, and I don't recall doing anything to make it do this?? Chatgpt is telling me to open it (something I'm not to skilled at doing) or ether repair it or replace it all together but I don't really have the funds, still I'm asking here also because I would like to think this is a better source for information on what I should do, any help would be fine. Thank you! 🙏

Update: thought it was a scenario where the computer 'died' died and needed to be charged completely to work, did that yesterday and nothing, still looking for solutions 😞

  3. Behaviour When Trying to Power On
  4. Recent Changes or Incidents
  • What is the full HP laptop model number? (This helps check for known issues with that specific device.)
  • You mentioned the charger light turns on — is it the original HP charger?
  • Does the light stay solid or blink when plugged in?
  • You said the side light turns on then off repeatedly — does the fan ever start, or any noise/sound from the laptop?
  • Any flicker on the screen, even for a split second?
  • Any drops, spills, or updates before this started happening?
  • Any recent BIOS updates or Windows updates?

 

             Troubleshooting Steps to Try

            1.Power Reset

  • Disconnect the charger
  • Press and hold the power button for 30–40 seconds
  • Reconnect only the charger and try powering on
  • If possible, connect to an external monitor to see if the laptop is actually turning on but the display isn’t showing anything
    2.Try a Different Power Outlet
    3.Check Charger & Cable
    4.If you have access to a compatible spare HP charger, try using it to see if the laptop powers on
    5.External Display Test

 

 To help you further, please provide:

  • Full HP laptop model number
  • Whether the fans or any sounds occur when trying to power on
  • Whether the screen shows even a flicker
  • Whether the charger is original and working correctly
  • Once I have these details, I can guide you step-by-step toward safe options to try before needing repairs, and help determine if this is likely a battery, motherboard, or power issue.

Thank you so much for responding, hopefully my answers can get us closer to a solution!

 

1. Model 14-cf2733wm

2. I want to say yes, but most likely no, the top part that goes into the computer says HP and most definitely could be mine! But as for the bottom it could either be the og charger or a different one from a Chromebook I had (works fine regardless)

3. If you mean the charger, the light stays on while charging as normal, if you mean the light on the left side, it still does the same pattern, and doesn't stay on when plugged in

4. No noise or sound at all.

5. No flickering or light, just black

6. Nope!

7. Also no

 

As for the troubleshooting steps I tried all of them prior except for the monitor and external display test, I have no monitor and I am unaware of how to do the second. I hear no fan sounds or any sounds and the charger works correctly and well, thank you again for the

help!!! 🙏

NEW INFORMATION 

 

Found out the light pattern is well, a pattern!!

 

It blinks on for 7 seconds, turns off, blinks on again and then turns off again, nothing afterwards. I was told HP laptops sometimes does this kinda code like? Meaning it could possibly mean something that could be wrong with it. I don't know past that part though!!
