The laptop does not power up a red light is blinking  continuously. Prior to this happening the laptop was going to a blank screen after 20-30 seconds whilst being used  for no reason. There was aprevious issue with the laptop when a white light was flashing and not powering up. I thought the issue was resolved by HP support. The laptop is only 2 months old!

What the Blinking Red Light Means

A continuous red light often indicates a hardware error or a critical battery/power issue that’s preventing the laptop from powering on properly.

 

 

Steps to Try Right Now

 

Perform a Hard Reset

Disconnect the laptop from the power adapter.

If possible, remove the battery (if removable).

Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.

Reconnect the power adapter (and battery if removed) and try powering on again.

 

Check the Power Adapter and Cable

Ensure the charger and cable are securely connected and working.

If you have access to another compatible charger, try using it to rule out power issues.

 

Look for Diagnostic Blink Codes

Count the pattern of the red light blinks (if it’s a repeating sequence).

This can help identify the specific hardware issue, which HP support can assist with.

 

Contact Phone Support Immediately

Since your laptop is just 2 months old and has ongoing issues, contacting support for repair or replacement under warranty is the best next step.

Provide them with the blink code details and explain the history of the problem.
