So i left my hp pavlion 15 eh1052wm charging in an outlet and left it on. I came back it was powered off, so i checked if it was charging. The led that indicates that it is charging is not lighting up. I switch chargers and test if my charger is faulty but none of that works. So i open it up and take the battery out and plug back in still doesnt work. So then i hard reset it mutiple times and still doesnt work. I then assume my charging port is faulty so i replace that and it doesnt work. I have also tried reseting the ram and unpluging and repluging wires connected onto the motherboard and it still would not turn on or indicate its charging. Im running out of ideas

Hi @Johnnydough,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already done a thorough job troubleshooting your HP Pavilion 15 by testing chargers, replacing the charging port, resetting the battery and RAM, and even reconnecting motherboard wires. Since the laptop still won't turn on or show any charging activity, here are a few more advanced steps you can try before considering professional repair.

Check the Power Button Circuit

  • It's possible that the power button is faulty. You could try testing the connection between the power button and the motherboard to ensure it's functioning correctly. In some cases, the power button may fail to send a signal to the motherboard.

Inspect the DC-In Board (if separate)

  • In some laptops, the charging port is connected to a separate DC-In board. Since you've replaced the charging port, check if there's a separate power board that could be malfunctioning.

Check for Short Circuits

  • Inspect the motherboard for any signs of short circuits or burn marks. A shorted component could prevent power from reaching the laptop.
  • If you have a multimeter, check the voltage on the main power rails to see if power is reaching the motherboard.

Test with Different Wall Outlet/Voltage

  • Ensure that you're plugging into a working outlet and that no voltage issues are present in your location (e.g., power surges). Try a different outlet or even a different location entirely if possible.

CMOS Battery

  • Try removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes and then reseating it. Sometimes, a faulty CMOS battery can prevent the system from starting up.

Motherboard Damage

  • It's possible that the issue lies with the motherboard itself, which may have developed a fault that prevents it from powering on. If you have access to a technician or feel comfortable, you could check the voltage regulators and other components on the motherboard for any signs of failure.

Try without RAM or Storage

  • Try powering on the laptop with the RAM and storage removed (it won’t boot, but you should see some activity or hear beeps). If it shows some sign of life without these components, it could point to an issue with one of them.

External Display Test

  • If there's no visible power-up activity on the laptop’s display, try connecting it to an external monitor to check if any output is sent to the external display.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
