My HP Victus will not turn on. Tested power cord (which works, but still does not show light to show charging when plugged in to victus), screen and fans will not turn on. Tested recommended solutions (battery, force reset. I have tech savvy family who took it apart even to look at parts, nothing obviously wrong) and still no power. Any recommendations? I do not want to send it in for repair if it is not worth it and I should just buy new.

Hi @Unknown196
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
That’s frustrating, especially since it was working fine just the night before. Since you’ve already tested the power cord and attempted a force reset, here are a few additional steps to try:
Perform a Hard Reset
- Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reconnect the power adapter (without the battery) and try turning it on.
Check for Power Button Response
- If the power button blinks but the laptop doesn’t turn on, it could indicate a motherboard or power delivery issue.
- Try pressing Win + V or Win + B while holding the power button for a few seconds to reset the BIOS.
Test Power with Battery vs. Adapter
- Remove the battery and connect only the power adapter—see if it turns on.
- If it doesn’t, try the reverse: connect only the battery and unplug the adapter.
Run HP Diagnostics (if possible)
- If the laptop shows any signs of life (blinking lights, fan movement), try pressing Esc at startup and selecting F2 > System Tests.
If none of these work, it might be a deeper hardware issue—possibly the power circuit or motherboard.
If you’re comfortable, you could check for loose connections inside, but if everything looks fine, repair might be the next step.
