The .html link you provided ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52001-52500/sp52477.html say that this F.34 bios update should only be used on the following applications, HP Pavilion dv6500, dv6700, dv9500 and dv9700 Notebook PC Series. Not the dv9600 series or dv9610us. Should I still try it?

That update should be good for your model too.

Worked perfectly. Thank you very much for your assistance. Called HP's 1-800 number and ended up with someone in India wanting $59.95 for a link to the bios update for this laptop. Last HP product I will purchase or recommend anyone else to purchase. Again, thanks again very much for all of your assistance.
