Hi,

 

I have yet to find a major Linux distribution that successfully installs Linux as a dual-boot on the very new OMEN X 2S.

Fedora 30 raises the following alarm:

The following error occurred while installing the boot loader.The system will not be bootable. Would you like to ignore this and continue with installation? Failed to set new efi boot target.This is most Likely a kernel or firmware bug.

Disabling secure-boot and/or enabling legacy mode in the bios was of no help.

In earlier Omen gaming notebooks I had no problem.

I am pleased to advise that the just released (7/7/2019) Debian 10 installed in the UEFI bios of "System Model OMEN X by HP Laptop 15-dg0xxx" alongside Windows 10 with the UEFI security ON !  In other words, Debian "shim" signature was accepted by Microsoft UEFI code.

 

Debian has yet some more work to do...  One has to boot with the "acpi=off" grub2 option, it cannot reboot or shutdown the computer as yet.

 

Last but not least, Debian kernel (4.19...) is yet too new for NVIDIA RTX-2080 driver...
