Product: Pavillion dv7

I have an old pavilion DV 7 that I was able to use about a month ago. I have attempted to log in using the fingerprint scanner but I get a message saying to enter a pin but no option to do so. I have also tried to log in via passwords but that is not working either.   Is there any way to externally manufacture reset the system or reset password another way because the fingerprint scanner isn't working and I never set up a Password reset disk.
