Hello

 

I can't log in to my laptop as it is locked after my son typed a wrong password several times. Now it is locked and I have to wait for two hours. It is however telling me to use other means to log in. Can you please advice whatare these other methods?

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Spectre x360 laptop running Windows 11 is locked after multiple incorrect password attempts, Windows should offer several alternative login methods. 

Here are some options you can try:

1. PIN

If you've set up a PIN for your account, Windows should allow you to enter your PIN instead of the password.
 

2. Fingerprint or Face Recognition

If your laptop has a fingerprint reader or uses Windows Hello for face recognition, you can try using these biometric options to log in.

3. Password Reset Option (Microsoft Account)

If you use a Microsoft account to log in, you can reset your password online:

  1. Go to Microsoft Account Password Reset.
  2. Follow the instructions to reset your password.
  3. After resetting the password, try logging in again.

4. Security Questions

If you're using a local account (not tied to a Microsoft account), you might be prompted to answer security questions to reset your password.

5. Sign-in with Another User Account

If there is another administrator account on your laptop, you can log in using that account and reset your password from there.

6. Safe Mode with Networking

You can boot your laptop into Safe Mode with Networking to access your account through alternate login methods:

  1. Power off your laptop and turn it back on.
  2. When the HP logo appears, press the F8 or Shift + F8 key repeatedly to enter the Advanced Boot Menu.
  3. Select Safe Mode with Networking and log in using alternative methods like the Microsoft Account or PIN.
