HP Pavilion 15-e010us Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP Pavilion 15-e010us Notebook with Windows 10. I have owned this computer for quite some time, and this issue only popped up a couple days ago. When I start up my computer, it powers on just fine until it reaches the login screen where I type in my password. At that point, the screen keeps going black and then "reloading" the login page. Here is what I know:

  1. This "reload" occurs roughly every 1-3 seconds after the login screen loads. After a few seconds of black screen, the login page successfully loads again.
  2. If I manage to start typing in my password, any progress I've made is gone when the page "reloads" (i.e., I have to start typing it in all over again).
  3. This happens repeatedly until, after roughly 1-3 minutes of "reloading" the login page, the page starts working properly and I can successfully log in.
  4. I can still move my mouse even while the login page is "reloading." Because of that, I know it isn't my screen flickering on and off. The page is actually resetting itself repeatedly.
  5. My computer works absolutely fine once I log in and make it to my desktop. The computer screen never "reloads" or turns off. I only have this issue when I am starting up my computer or waking it back up.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to perform a hard reset unless no other solutions are available. I'll post any further information I uncover.

Hi @clay23

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

This is software related issues (not a hardware problem) caused by either some bug in Windows itself or by some faulty update or by some faulty driver.

If you search the Internet for such issues, you will see that you are not the only one that has experienced this.

It depends on what caused it but complete recovery may not be necessary (if you have a feature called System Restore working).

1. Please, shutdown the computer using the power button

2. Power it on.

2.1 As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).

This should open a HP Startup Menu which may look similar to this one

3. Choose F11 for System Recovery options.

The computer should boot from it's recovery partition to open you various recovery options. Note, that F11 option will only work if the recovery partition is there (not deleted) and intact. From there, you have prenty of options to choose from. Every HP computer comes with recovery partition present to assist in tough moments.

Please, perform "System Restore" first in an attempt to fix the issue. Please, restore back to previous day (restore point) where the issue was not present. Here is more info:

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.
