Welcome to the HP Forums!
Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.
I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer makes noise when you start it in the battery mode.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.
- When was the last time the computer was working fine?
- Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
- Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?
While you respond to that, I recommend you update the bios on your computer from the below link and check if it resolves the issue.
If you continue to face the issue, follow the below steps and check.
Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager.
Here is how you do it.
Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”
Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”
Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.
Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”
Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.
Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!
Cheers!

to answer your question first, my laptop worked fine 5 days ago. software changes yes, windows OS update and the realtek audio driver were not responding well so i moved to the high definition audio driver and 2 days later i started experiencing this noise.
so i backed up and formatted the hard drive in fear that the hard drive might me the issue. i then updated the bios as instructed by you, the noise stopped for a while and i notice the realtek driver wasn't working when i tried watching a video and i decided to move back to the high definition audio driver and Bam!! it started the noise again but this time it only lasts 2 -3 seconds max.
i have downgraded the realtek driver . it works well now but i still get the noise but it isnt as monstrous as it was before.
i also tried uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method as you instructed still makes the noise

I reviewed your concern and the entire conversation, did some research and here's what I recommend:
You are right, if the issue doesn't occur on an external speaker/headphone but from the computer itself, I recommend you create a backup of all your personal information on an external storage device or an online cloud storage.
And then check this:

Was there a final resolution to this issue? If so, what was the root cause, and what steps are required to implement fix. My laptop has the same screeching sound at boot time.

I'm having the same problem and would appreciate help resolving it. Here's a bit more background to my specific situation:
I typically use my HP Envy 15t-ae100 laptop while connected to a docking station. Several months ago, the cursor started jumping around randomly while connected to the docking station. Not only was it jumping around, but it would randomly select and click on screen content whenever the laptop was closed. However, everything behaved normally if the laptop was left partially opened. I also noticed a change in the tactile response of the laptop touchpad. It didn't respond consistently and I couldn't hear/feel the typical "click" when it was pressed.
A few weeks ago, the laptop speakers started emitting a screeching noise on startup as others have described here. I wasn't sure if the screeching sound was related to the touchpad issue, so I took the laptop apart today to investigate the touchpad. I discovered that the battery was swollen to the point where it was pressing against the bottom of the touchpad. This is what was causing the cursor to move around and click by iteself. I removed the battery and ordered a replacement, but it won't arrive until Monday. In the mean time, I decided to reassemble the laptop so the kids couldn't mess with it. Although I wasn't sure it would work without the battery, I was pleasantly surprised when I placed it in the docking station and was able to power it up (now we can use it while waiting for the battery to arrive). Anyway, when I powered it up, it again made the loud screeching sound for a few seconds.
Can you help me resolve the issue?
Thanks,
Mike
