Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-s0000 (76T52AV)

'Manufacturing mode is in unlock mode'.

Bought the laptop 8 months ago, last week my motherboard got replaced because of problems, turned out to be the motherboard. Every time on boot I get the message 'Manufacturing mode is in unlock mode'.

How do I lock it? I already tried entering BIOS and see if there was an option to change Unlock to Lock, but there wasn't. Downloaded the latest BIOS version from HP Software & Drivers (it was basically the same version as before). On Google I can only find some stuff that requires programming, I am not known with that sort of stuff.

How can I turn it off or should I return it (again) to where I bought it?

@George507, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Thank you for reaching out regarding the “Manufacturing mode is in unlock mode” message you’re seeing on your Victus by HP gaming laptop. I understand that this can be frustrating, especially after the motherboard replacement.

The "Manufacturing Mode" message typically appears when the system is in a state that's intended for factory or repair diagnostics, not for regular consumer use. This mode can sometimes be triggered during hardware repairs or maintenance, such as motherboard replacements, and it may need to be properly disabled or locked to return the laptop to normal operation.

Here's what you can try:

Check for BIOS Lock Options:

While you mentioned you’ve already checked the BIOS, it's worth re-confirming that there are no settings related to "Manufacturing Mode" or "Service Mode" within the advanced BIOS options. Sometimes these settings are hidden under different names (such as "Secure Boot", "TPM", or "Advanced Security"). Make sure you are using the correct BIOS version after the motherboard replacement.

Reset the BIOS Settings:

Since the motherboard was replaced, it's possible that the BIOS settings were not correctly reset to factory defaults. Try resetting the BIOS to its default settings:

Power off the laptop.

Turn it back on and immediately press the F10 key to enter BIOS.

Inside BIOS, look for an option to reset to "Default Settings" (this may be under the "Exit" tab, or under the "Advanced" settings).

Save changes and exit BIOS.

If there's still an issue after resetting, perform a power cycle by shutting down the laptop, unplugging it, and removing the battery (if removable) for about 5 minutes, then try booting again.

BIOS Recovery/Update:

Even though you’ve already updated the BIOS, it's possible that the firmware update didn't complete properly. You can try reinstalling or recovering the BIOS from HP’s website.

To do a BIOS recovery, follow the steps detailed here: HP BIOS Recovery

If none of the above options resolve the issue, I would recommend contacting the place where you bought it first to see if they offer any assistance.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
