HP OmniBook X Flip 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop Next Gen AI PC 14-fm0000 (AK4Z2AV)

I purchased an HP OmniBook X in March 2026, and after only a few months of use, I started experiencing a serious issue with the laptop. It has been stuck for almost a month now, displaying the following message:

"Memory training is in progress. The whole process might take several minutes to complete. Do not shut down or remove external power from your PC during the process."

Unfortunately, the process never finishes, and I cannot access or use my laptop at all.

I never expected to experience such a serious issue after only a few months of use, especially since I purchased this laptop for my college studies. It is frustrating to have a relatively new laptop become unusable in such a short period of time.

Has anyone experienced the same issue with their HP OmniBook X? I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions on how to resolve this problem.

I would also like to ask if HP can help me resolve this issue without charging me a repair fee, considering that the laptop was purchased only in March 2026 and the repair cost could be very expensive. I hope HP can provide assistance or consider covering the repair since I did not expect this kind of problem to happen so soon after purchasing the device.

Hi @Yoohoo7

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how important your laptop is for your college studies, especially since it was purchased only a few months ago. Dont worry I’ll be glad to guide you with this.

Could you let me know the below details :

  • Did this start after a BIOS/Windows update or any hardware change?
  • Does the laptop eventually restart, or does it remain on the“Memory training is in progress” screen continuously?
  • Are you able to access the BIOS or HP Hardware Diagnostics?

Kindly try the below steps and confirm :

  1. Disconnect the charger and all external devices.
  2. Press and hold the Power button for about 15–20 seconds.
  3. Connect only the AC adapter and try powering it on again.
  4. If the same screen continues, turn the laptop off and try starting HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI by repeatedly pressing Esc, then F2 after powering it on. Run the Memory Test if available.
  5. You can also try HP BIOS recovery by holding Windows + B, pressing the Power button for 2–3 seconds, releasing Power, and continuing to hold Windows + B briefly to see whether the BIOS recovery screen appears - Click here for steps .

Hi, thank you for your response and for trying to help me with this issue.

To answer your questions:

1. The issue did not happen after a BIOS or Windows update, and I did not make any hardware changes. It happened unexpectedly while I was using my laptop. It suddenly shut down on its own, then repeatedly restarted and automatically shut down again. This kept happening until it eventually got stuck on the "Memory training is in progress" screen.

2. It remains stuck on the "Memory training is in progress" screen continuously. It does not proceed beyond that screen, even after waiting for a long time. It has been almost a month since this happened, and I still cannot access or use my laptop.

3. I haven't been able to access the BIOS or HP Hardware Diagnostics because the laptop does not proceed past the memory training screen.

I would also like to ask if there is any way HP can assist me with this issue under warranty or provide a repair without additional charges. I only purchased this laptop in March 2026, and I did not expect to experience such a serious problem after only a few months of use. Since this laptop is important for my college studies, I am hoping HP can help me resolve this issue without requiring me to pay an expensive repair fee.

Thank you, and I hope you can provide further assistance.
