Hi @AKB27,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

This issue often happens when a recent Windows security update conflicts with the UEFI or boot configuration. Here’s the approach to fix it and prevent the update from looping:

Step 1: Boot into Windows Recovery

  1. Power on the laptop and press F11 repeatedly to enter Recovery Environment.
  2. If F11 doesn’t work, use a Windows installation USB.

Step 2: Uninstall the Problematic Update

  • In Recovery:
    • Troubleshoot → Advanced Options → Uninstall Updates.
    • Choose Uninstall Latest Quality Update or Uninstall Latest Feature Update.
  • Restart and check if the system boots normally.

Step 3: Disable Automatic Update Temporarily

Once you’re back in Windows:

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc.
  2. Find Windows Update, set Startup type = Disabled.
  3. Or use Settings → Windows Update → Pause Updates for 5 weeks.

Step 4: Repair Boot Configuration

If the update corrupted boot files:

  • In Advanced Options → Command Prompt, run:

                  bootrec /fixmbr

                  bootrec /fixboot

                  bootrec /scanos

                  bootrec /rebuildbcd

Step 5: Update BIOS & Drivers

Step 6: Block the Specific Update

After fixing boot:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
