My HP Laptop 2016 boots up into preparing automatic repair and then gets stuck in an endless loop. I cannot access anything, the only thing I can do is turn it off and on. I have tried the F8 the F11 key nothing works what do I do??? I need to get this back it's only been 1 day and I don't know why this has happened but I desperately need my computer back to go to work.

Hi @Smore1964,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP laptop is stuck in an infinite loop while trying to perform an automatic repair. Let's work through some steps that might help resolve the issue.

Hard Reboot

  • Turn off the laptop completely by holding the power button for about 10-15 seconds.
  • Wait for 30 seconds, then try turning it back on to see if it can boot normally.

Boot into Safe Mode

  • Try accessing Safe Mode by pressing the Shift key while selecting "Restart" from the "Start" menu (if accessible).
  • If this isn't working, try this method:
    1. Turn off the laptop completely.
    2. Power it on and as soon as you see the HP logo, press the F8 or Shift + F8 (some laptops require pressing the Esc key then selecting F8).
    3. This should take you into "Advanced Boot Options," where you can select Safe Mode.

System Restore Using Windows Recovery

  • If you can access the Advanced Startup Options, try running a System Restore:
    1. On the "Choose an option" screen, click Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
    2. If prompted, choose a restore point before the issue started and follow the on-screen instructions.

Startup Repair

  • If you can get into the Advanced Startup Options, try running Startup Repair:
    1. On the "Choose an option" screen, click Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
    2. Let it try to fix any issues that are causing the boot loop.

Reset Your PC

  • If other options fail, you may need to perform a Reset of your PC:
    1. On the "Choose an option" screen, click Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
    2. You’ll have the option to keep your files or remove everything.
    3. If you choose to keep files, it will reinstall Windows without affecting your personal files.

Create a Bootable USB Drive for Repair

If none of the above works, you might need to create a bootable USB drive using another computer to perform more advanced troubleshooting. You can use the Windows Media Creation Tool to create this drive.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
