My G6 250 laptop will no longer charge when the machine is switched on. It will charge happily when turned off, but the machine can only be used on battery power. The guidance I have read so far suggests that the fault lies either with the battery (replaced - no change), the charger (tried another charger - no change) or a BIOS update is required. Unfortunately, I can't do a BIOS update (this machine is on F.11) because the program will not continue until the machine is on the mains!

 

When in use the machine's battery LED shows orange, which changes immediately to white (battery full) when the charger is plugged in. Once the machine is powered off, the LED goes to orange and the battery charges as normal.

 

There are a number of similar threads on here, but none ever seem to have been resolved... any solutions for this really infuriating problem gratefully received. Cheers.
