HP 15-1233wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When turning on my computer it does not boot up, black screen only. The Cap Locks button constantly flashes a blue or white light. The F12 key has a steady orange light.  On the side where the disk drive is, there is a steady blue light and a steady orange light. What is the problem and how can I fix it?

Hi,

 

I'm assuming the Model No. is 15-f233wm.

 

From your description, it sound like a hardware issue, but you could try a Hard Reset as follows.

 

Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and see if the notebook will start.

 

If it doesn't, your notebook is listed as shipping with Windows 10, so it should still under warranty.  In which case, contact HP and arrange for repair - If needed, you can check your warranty status Here.

My computer came with Windows 8.1, not Windows 10. I upgraded to Windows 10 when it became available and it worked fine for a good while. I tried what you said to try and it did not work. I rechecked the computer and it has 15-1033wm on the back, my apologies for getting it wrong.
