Product: HP Compaq 6910p
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista
My HP Compaq 6910p is plugged in but is not starting to charge I have charger that fits but unsure if it is the right charger battery completely dead and this gal told me to give some time how long will it take to start charging?

6910p is a very old machine and it is very probable it needs a new battery. Please describe the charger you are using as using an improper charger can very quickly kill the laptop.
