I am using a HP Pavilion 15 Laptop. I have pressed the power button many times, even tried removing the adapter and doing a hard reset, but it will not work. Please help.

Hi @DamianTan,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion 15 laptop is not turning on despite trying the power button and a hard reset, there could be several potential causes for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Check Power Source: Ensure that your laptop is connected to a working power outlet and that the power adapter is securely connected to both the laptop and the outlet. Try using a different power outlet or power adapter to rule out any issues with the power source.
  • Battery Issues: If your laptop has a removable battery, try removing it and then reinserting it after a few seconds. If the battery is non-removable, skip this step.
  • External Devices: Disconnect all external devices (such as USB drives, external monitors, etc.) from your laptop and then try turning it on again. Sometimes, faulty external devices can prevent the laptop from booting up.
  • Reset BIOS/UEFI Settings: Try resetting the BIOS/UEFI settings to their default values. You can usually access the BIOS/UEFI setup by pressing a specific key (e.g., F2, Del) during the boot-up process. Once in the BIOS/UEFI setup, look for an option to reset the settings to default.
  • Check for Hardware Issues: There may be a hardware issue causing the problem.
  • Faulty Power Button: In some cases, the power button itself may be faulty.
  • Motherboard or Power Supply Issue: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there is a more serious problem with the motherboard or power supply of your laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
