My HP laptop was stolen, how can I remotely lock it up so that the thieves can't use it?

My HP Laptop was stolen and I would like to know if there is a way for me to remotely lock up the laptop system so that they thieves can't use it.

I am sorry this happened.

The time to ensure this sort of protection is in place is when you still have control of the computer.

That said,  if you switched it on (when you still had the computer), Microsoft Find my Device might be useful in this situation.

What else?

The only other methods are those that involve you having deliberately purchasing and adding this kind of protection / software.  In other words, you would not need to ask the question since you would know you have the software / implant / protection on the system.

HP does not track devices nor does HP provide tracking down lost or stolen devices.
