Envy x360 m6-w102
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When plugged in, the power-led near the power connector is white.  Pressing the power button results in a single blink on the power botton LED and a simultaneous blink on the CAPS Lock key.   (when power connector is plugged in or not)

Attempts to reset i.e. hold down on the power buton, hold down on the power and mute button,  for 15 seconds etc.   have no effect.

Any help would be appreciated.  This computer is 13 months old.

Hi @sceptre75, Welcome to HP Support Forums and thanks for reaching out to us. I came across your post and understand that your HP ENVY x360 - m6-w102dx notebook does not start normally. I would like to assist you here. 🙂

You have certainly done your share of research and did a good job. I request you to check that when attempting reset if you disconnected the power cable and then pressed the power button for 15 seconds. Moreover, if the power-led near the power connector glows, it indicates that the ac adaptor is fine.

I suggest you to perform the below steps mentioned under “Recovering the BIOS using key press combination.” These steps sometimes help to boot up a computer.

Please feel free to let me know how it goes. Good luck!

I performed the following steps as suggested on the web page.

1. Turn off the computer.
2. With the computer off, press and hold the Windows logo key and the B key at the same time.
3. Still pressing those keys, press and hold down the Power button on the computer for 2 to 3 seconds, and then release the Power button but continue to hold the Windows and B keys

As reported before, the LED on the power button and the LED on the CAPS Lock key blinked one time.  Then nothing.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks

Call HP Support 866-724-8600

Paid $60 to talk to a support agent

(refunded when we agreed that computer had to be sent in)

Repeated steps already tried; for example, hold Windows key and B while turning on power

No luck with any of the key press combinations

Got HP Ticket assigned $299.59.  Box and packing material arrived next day via Fedex

Got Computer back in 10 calendar days via Fedex

Computer fixed.

Defective Commodity, Fail Reason(s), Repair Action(s):

CABLES: CABLE DEFECTIVE (TO ANY INTERNAL COMPONENT); Replaced Defective Cable

SOFTWARE: MISSING DRIVERS; reload Harddrive-OS/DriverCorruptorCustomer

MOTHER BOARD: No Power or POST; Replaced Motherboard

It would be nice if HP could refund the money.  The computer was 1 month out of warranty and had a defective mother board.

I have the same laptop and similar issues, my laptop charges just fine, a couple of days ago, I had trouble pulling it out of sleep mode, I had the AC adapter plugged in and the light was white, but no other lights were on. The little light with the symbol of 3 discs isn't on, the light of the power button isn't on, and none of the keyboard lights are on. I have tried the steps to doing a hard reset following instructions perfectly every time (sealed battery) I plug it back in and try pressing the power button and nothing happens. My warranty, like the OP just expired 3 months ago laptop is 15 months old. I actually have gotten the laptop to turn on a couple of times before, usually holding the power button a while (fiddling with it for 2+ hours) eventually causes it to boot up and everything is fine. My laptop went into sleep mode and I had the same problem again.
