My hp elitebook 1030 g3 ×360 shuts down randomly when being used. I try to turn it on again, the cap locks light blinks and also the charging port light(even when not charging) on startup, the fan spins loudly on startup and stops immediately then the screen comes on. After some minutes, it goes off again.

The battery is not removale so i cant hard reset.

The RAM is inbuilt too, cant access it too.

The battery works great when its on.

The Bios has been updated.

I have tried every possible solution but, it keeps shutting down randomly.

@OJ26, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP Elitebook 1030 g3 ×360.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

It sounds like you're experiencing significant power or hardware issues with your HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve these issues:

  1. Run a Hardware Diagnostics Test:

    • HP laptops usually come with built-in diagnostics tools. You can access these by turning off your computer, then turning it on and pressing the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu is displayed. From there, press F2 to access the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
    • Run a comprehensive test to see if it identifies any hardware issues.
  2. Check for Overheating:

    • Make sure the laptop is placed on a hard, flat surface when in use. Using it on a soft surface like a bed or couch can block the vents and cause overheating.
    • Consider cleaning the vents and fans with compressed air to remove any dust build-up that might be causing overheating.
  3. Reset Windows Power Settings:

    • Sometimes adjusting the power settings might help. Go to Control Panel > Power Options, and make sure your power settings are balanced and not overly aggressive with power-saving settings.
  4. Monitor Software & Processes:

    • Ensure there aren’t any demanding applications or processes running in the background which could be contributing to system instability.
    • Consider running your computer in Safe Mode to see if the problem persists, which can help identify if a third-party application is causing the issue.
  5. Check for System Updates:

    • Ensure that all Windows updates are installed as sometimes these include fixes for known stability issues.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
