@dharm2008, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Laptop Booting to Start Menu Issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your laptop always boots into the start menu instead of directly to the Windows welcome screen, you likely need to adjust the boot configuration settings using the Computer Setup (F10) Utility. Here are the steps to help you fix this issue:

Access Computer Setup Utilities:

  • Turn on or restart the computer.
  • Repeatedly press F10 when the monitor light turns green to access the utility. You can also press Esc to access a menu that allows you to access different options available at startup, including the Computer Setup utility.
  • Note: If you do not press F10 at the appropriate time, you must restart the computer and again repeatedly press F10 when the monitor light turns green to access the utility.

Main Screen Navigation:

  • A menu with options such as Main, Security, Advanced, and UEFI Drivers will appear.
  • Use the arrow keys to navigate between these options.

Modify Boot Order:

  • Navigate to Computer Setup—Boot Options.
  • Modify settings such as "Boot Order" to ensure that your internal hard drive, where Windows is installed, is selected as a primary boot source.
  • Ensure that options like USB Boot and Network Boot are configured appropriately. If necessary, select Internal Hard Drive as the default boot source.

Save Changes:

  • To apply and save changes, select Main > Save Changes and Exit.
  • If you have made changes that you do not want to apply, select Ignore Changes and Exit.
  • You can also restore settings to default by selecting Apply Factory Defaults and Exit.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
