HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg3000 (78G48AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My laptop won't turn on. The power button is blinking, but the screen remains black, and it's unresponsive to any key presses.

@5CD4215XBT, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg3000 series laptop's power button is blinking, but the screen remains black and unresponsive, you can try the following steps:

Reset the Laptop

  1. Power off the Laptop: Ensure the laptop is completely powered down.
  2. Disconnect the Power Adapter: Remove the power cable from both the laptop and the power source.
  3. Press and Hold Power Button: With the power adapter unplugged, press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the Power Adapter: Plug the power adapter back into the laptop and the wall outlet.
  5. Power On the Laptop: Press the power button to turn on the laptop.

Connect an External Monitor

This test can be helpful if the laptop seems operational, but the display is not working:

  1. Attach an External Monitor: Use a suitable cable to connect an external monitor to your laptop.
  2. Check Display Output: If nothing is shown, press the F4 key until the external monitor displays the laptop screen image.
  3. Update Graphics Driver: If the external monitor shows an image, a graphics driver issue may be present. You can download and install the latest graphics drivers from HP Support.

Recover the BIOS

  1. Connect the Power Source: Ensure the laptop is connected to a power source.
  2. Initiate BIOS Recovery: While the laptop is off, press and hold the Windows + B key, then press the power button for one second and release all keys.
  3. BIOS Update: It might take a while, but the HP BIOS Update screen should appear.

Reseat Memory Modules

If experiencing black screen errors, the issue might be with the memory modules.

  1. Turn Off Laptop: Ensure the laptop is powered down and disconnected from the adapter.
  2. Remove and Reseat Memory Modules: Access the memory slots (consult your laptop's Maintenance and Service Guide for instructions). Remove and reinstall the modules and ensure they are properly seated.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
