Context: I'm not exactly sure what model it is but it's HP and I've had it for around 6 years.

I haven't used it in over 6 months because It suddenly developed a habit of powering down (like it makes the same noise as if it was out of battery and the screen goes black). This happens at random: sometimes it will be fine for 1-2hrs but sometimes it will go off after 30 secs. Most often it goes off after 2-3mins.

It 'wakes up' almost instantly after you push the power button, sometimes you have to push it a few times but it has always woken up since it started doing this.

It happens even with fully battery and I recently got a new charger, it happens less when the charger is plugged in I think but can't be sure. It also goes off If you rotate the laptop.

I have tried factory resetting it but even with no data or apps it still does this.

Is there any hope of fixing this? Is it HP telling me to get a new laptop? Should I buy a new battery for it?

Thanks for any help
