HP ENVY x360 - 15-u493cl (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 11

This is driving me crazy, this computer will not power on without great effort each time. And now it's not powering on at all. It's like it is not recognizing when you push the power on button so nothing happens.

@Hawthorne555, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your laptop won’t power on easily.  Let’s walk through some steps to help get your HP ENVY x360 back up and running.

Perform a Hard Reset (No Data Loss)

This helps clear any residual electrical charge that might be preventing the laptop from powering on.

  • Disconnect the AC adapter and remove any external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  • If your model has a removable battery, take it out. If not, skip this step.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter (without battery if removable) and try powering on.

Check the Power Adapter and Port

  • Ensure the power adapter is working. Try a different compatible charger if available.
  • Inspect the charging port for any dust or damage.

Look for Signs of Life

  • Do any lights blink or fans spin when you press the power button?
  • If yes, but the screen stays black, it could be a display issue. Try connecting to an external monitor.

BIOS Recovery

If the laptop powers on but doesn’t boot, you can try a BIOS recovery:

  • Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds.
  • Release the power button but continue holding Windows + B until you hear beeps or see the HP BIOS recovery screen.

If none of the above steps work, the issue may be hardware-related, then we suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - United States | HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
