Since your HP laptop won’t turn on even after installing a new battery and confirming it charged, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
Basic Hardware Checks
- Remove all external devices: Disconnect USB drives, external monitors, printers, etc.
- Try a hard reset:
- Disconnect the power adapter.
- Remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning it on.
Check Power Supply
- Power LED indicators: Do any lights turn on when you plug in the charger?
- Charger test: Try using a different compatible charger if available.
- Battery test: Even if the battery is new, try powering the laptop with the battery removed and only the charger connected.
Display Issues
- Try shining a flashlight at the screen after powering on. If you see a faint image, the backlight or display might be faulty.
- Connect the laptop to an external monitor to check if it’s a screen issue.
Motherboard or Internal Hardware
If none of the above works:
- There could be a motherboard, RAM, or power circuit issue.
- Listen for beep codes or fan noise when pressing the power button, these can indicate hardware problems.
