@Lingalloway, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Since your HP laptop won’t turn on even after installing a new battery and confirming it charged, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

Basic Hardware Checks

  1. Remove all external devices: Disconnect USB drives, external monitors, printers, etc.
  2. Try a hard reset:
    • Disconnect the power adapter.
    • Remove the battery (if removable).
    • Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
    • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning it on.

Check Power Supply

  • Power LED indicators: Do any lights turn on when you plug in the charger?
  • Charger test: Try using a different compatible charger if available.
  • Battery test: Even if the battery is new, try powering the laptop with the battery removed and only the charger connected.

Display Issues

  • Try shining a flashlight at the screen after powering on. If you see a faint image, the backlight or display might be faulty.
  • Connect the laptop to an external monitor to check if it’s a screen issue.

Motherboard or Internal Hardware

If none of the above works:

  • There could be a motherboard, RAM, or power circuit issue.
  • Listen for beep codes or fan noise when pressing the power button, these can indicate hardware problems.

We suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
