Hi @SarthakDeoraj,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP 15s EQ2144AU laptop is experiencing hardware issues, particularly after opening it for RAM and fan maintenance. The issue you're describing, where the laptop shows the HP logo and then shuts off with a clicking sound, can be indicative of several possible problems. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Check the RAM
Since you mentioned having a RAM issue previously, double-check that the RAM is seated properly:
Power Off and Unplug:
- Turn off the laptop and unplug it from any power source.
Remove and Reinsert RAM:
- Open the laptop carefully, following the proper disassembly procedure.
- Remove the RAM modules and reinsert them securely. Ensure the RAM is properly seated in the slots.
Test Each RAM Module:
- If you have more than one RAM module, try testing each one individually by booting the laptop with only one module installed at a time.
2. Check the Hard Drive
A clicking sound can sometimes be a sign of a failing hard drive:
Inspect Connections:
- Ensure the hard drive is securely connected to the motherboard.
Listen for the Sound:
- If the clicking sound is coming from the hard drive, it may be failing. Consider replacing the hard drive or using an SSD.
3. Check for Loose Connections
Ensure all internal components are securely connected:
- Inspect All Cables and Connectors:
- Check that all internal cables (power, data, etc.) are firmly connected.
4. Reset the BIOS
Resetting the BIOS can sometimes resolve hardware initialization issues:
Remove the Battery (if possible):
- Disconnect the laptop from power and remove the battery (if it is removable).
Reset CMOS:
- Look for a small CMOS battery on the motherboard and remove it for a few minutes, then reinsert it. This will reset the BIOS to default settings.
Power Cycle:
- Hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning on the laptop again.
5. Check the Fan and Cooling System
Ensure the cooling system is functioning properly:
- Inspect the Fan:
- Make sure the fan is connected and working correctly.
- Clean any dust or debris that might be obstructing the fan or vents.
6. External Monitor Test
To rule out display issues, connect your laptop to an external monitor:
- Connect to External Monitor:
- Use an HDMI or VGA cable to connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV.
- Turn on the laptop and see if it displays anything on the external screen.
7. Boot into Safe Mode or BIOS
Try to access the BIOS or boot into Safe Mode:
Enter BIOS:
- Turn on the laptop and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
- Press F10 to enter the BIOS setup and check if the laptop stays on in the BIOS screen.
Boot into Safe Mode:
- If you can get past the logo screen, try booting into Safe Mode by pressing F8 during startup (or Shift + F8 for some systems).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
