Hi @Mike19674,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're having trouble accessing your HP laptop due to the fingerprint screen lock, you might want to try a few things.
- Restart the Laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can fix minor issues. Try restarting your laptop and see if the fingerprint scanner starts working again.
- Use Password Instead: If you've set up a password along with the fingerprint, try using the password to log in instead.
- Check Fingerprint Settings: Sometimes the fingerprint settings might need to be adjusted. You can check these settings in the Windows Settings menu under "Accounts" and then "Sign-in options".
- Update Drivers: Make sure that all your drivers, including the fingerprint reader driver, are up to date. You can do this through the Device Manager in Windows.
- Factory Reset: If nothing else works, you might have to consider a factory reset. This will erase all data on your laptop, so make sure to back up important files before proceeding.
As for accessing the boot menu on an HP 15 laptop, the specific key or combination of keys to press can vary depending on the model and BIOS version. Typically, though, you can try pressing one of the following keys during startup:
- F9
- F10
- F11
- Esc (then press F9 for Boot Menu)
Try pressing one of these keys repeatedly as soon as you power on your laptop until you see the boot menu. From there, you should be able to select the option to boot from a different device or access other troubleshooting options.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
