Hi @MarcusD74,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how scary and stressful it feels when a brand‑new HP laptop won’t power on at all. Let’s walk through this together gently, step by step,

1. Perform the Correct HP “Emergency Power Drain Reset”

Sometimes the normal hard reset doesn’t fully drain the board.

Do this exactly:

  1. Disconnect the charger from the laptop.
  2. Press and hold the Power button for 15–20 seconds (keep holding even if nothing happens).
  3. Release.
  4. Plug the charger directly into a wall outlet (not extension, not surge strip).
  5. Try powering on again.

2. Check for Life Signs (even tiny ones)

When you press the power button:

  • Any LED flash?
  • Do you hear even a faint “tick” or fan twitch?
  • Does the charging port light up?

If everything is dead, continue below.

3. BIOS Restore:

  • Shut down the computer, keep the charger plugged in
  • Hold down the Windows and B buttons together while the computer is still turned off.
  • Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B buttons until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions and click on OK.

4. Try Booting Without the Battery (If External Battery Model)

If your model has a removable battery:

  1. Remove battery
  2. Plug-in charger only
  3. Press power

If it turns on, the battery connection is the issue

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
