I just received HP SSD s750. 2.5" 1T drive (hp part# 16l54aa#aba) to replace ailing regular hard drive on my laptop (17-bs153cl). after installing the new SSD, I get a message that says BOOT DEVICE NOT FOUND. PLEASE INSTALL AN OPERATING SYSTEM ON YOUR HARD DISK, How do I resolve this? I do not have another PC; however I do have a MacBook. Thanks for the help.

Hi:
The only suggestion I can offer would be to see the info at the link below for how to create a bootable W10 USB flash drive using your MacBook.
How to create a Windows 10 installer USB drive from a Mac | Windows Central
After W10 has completed installing on your 17-bs153cl, you can install the drivers and available software from the support page.
HP Notebook - 17-bs153cl Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support
If you want to install the original HP factory image that came with your notebook on the new SSD, after you get W10 reinstalled, you can use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive to do that.
Here is an info link for how to use that utility...

Thanks Paul. Now that I've created the USB Boot disk, how do I make it work to boot my PC? When I tried to boot with the USB inserted, I get the message NO BOOTABLE DEVICE -- INSERT BOOT DISKAND PRESS ANY KEY.

You're very welcome.
With the USB recovery drive in the notebook, turn on or restart the PC.
Immediately press/tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.
Select the F9 boot options menu and you should see a UEFI USB flash drive to boot from.
Select that option and press the Enter key and the PC should boot from the USB recovery drive instead of trying to boot from the hard drive.

Hi:
I guess you will need to go into the BIOS (where you were in your second screen shot), disable Secure Soot and enable Legacy mode.
See this link for the settings to change.
HP Notebook PCs - Cannot Start Notebook Computer From a Bootable CD or DVD | HP® Customer Support
After you make and save those changes, boot back into the F9 boot options menu and you should see two sets of boot options--Legacy and UEFI.
Select the UEFI Diskette on Key/USB hard drive and press the Enter key.
Hopefully that will work and after Windows has installed you can enable the Secure Boot setting in the BIOS again.

You're very welcome.
Yes, you did exactly the right thing but unfortunately, I have no idea why the notebook won't boot from the Sandisk 32 GB USB flash drive after you select it and pressed the enter key.
You created the USB recovery drive made with the Cloud recovery tool on a Sandisk 32 GB USB flash drive, correct?

OK, I 'm the one that was confused.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with anything having to do with creating a bootable drive with a Mac other than what I gave you.
I can probably tell you what the problem is though...whatever process you did, it did not make the ISO file bootable, which is why the notebook won't boot from the USB flash drive.
I recommend that you use a Windows PC from a friend or relative to create the bootable W10 installation flash drive.
