HP Laptop PC 15-dw3000 (1A3Y5AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear Freinds ;

Please note that I have bought a new laptop HP 15-dw3xxx ( 15-dw3061nx ),  with SSD M.2 Nvme. It came with Windows 11 & I want to install Windows 10 Using a USB But after I run the laptop & press F9 to see the boot options there is no USB ( Try Several USB Flash ), and when I go to the BIOS settings the option is there and as you can see there is a black rectangle over the OS Boot Manager I can't remove.

Any Ideas IMG_20220414_093354.jpg

Best Regards

Hi @husseindhaher

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

Based on your description and the BIOS screenshot, this issue is likely caused by a combination of UEFI settings, Secure Boot, and USB format compatibility. Here's how to resolve it step-by-step:

Enter BIOS Setup (F10 key during boot)
You've already done this, so continue to the next steps.

Disable Secure Boot:

  • Go to the Security or Boot tab in BIOS.

  • Look for Secure Boot Configuration.

  • If it asks to enable "Legacy Support" first, do that.

  • Set Secure Boot to Disabled.

  • Save and Exit BIOS.

Enable Legacy Support (if available):

  • In the Boot tab, enable Legacy Support.

  • Some HP models hide USB boot under UEFI unless Legacy is enabled.

Reformat Your USB Drive:

  • Use Rufus on another computer to re-create the bootable USB.

  • Settings for BIOS USB boot:

    • Partition Scheme: MBR

    • File System: FAT32

    • Target system: BIOS or UEFI

    • ISO File: Use Windows 10 ISO

  • Reinsert USB and restart.

Press F9 Again at Boot
After saving the above BIOS changes and inserting the properly formatted USB, press F9 again. Now the USB device should appear.
