Hi @Devanshu_Bansal,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key" error typically indicates that your laptop is unable to find a bootable operating system on the hard drive. This could be due to incorrect boot settings, a disconnected or failing hard drive, or corrupted boot files. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Step 1: Check BIOS Boot Order
- Access BIOS/UEFI:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately press Esc repeatedly or F10 (depending on your model) to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
- Verify Boot Device Order:
- Navigate to the Boot or System Configuration tab.
- Ensure the internal hard drive (or SSD) is set as the first boot device.
- Save changes and exit (usually by pressing F10).
Step 2: Check Hard Drive Connection
- Run Hardware Diagnostics:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it on and press Esc repeatedly, then select F2 for diagnostics.
- Run a hard drive diagnostic test to check for physical issues.
- If the test fails, the hard drive/SSD may need replacement.
- Check Hard Drive in BIOS:
- In BIOS, confirm that the hard drive is detected under Storage or System Information. If not, it might be disconnected or failed.
Step 3: Repair the Bootloader
If the hard drive passes diagnostics and is detected:
- Create a Bootable Windows USB:
- Use a working computer to create a bootable Windows 11 USB using the Windows Media Creation Tool.
- Boot from USB:
- Insert the USB into your laptop, and boot into it (you may need to press F9 during startup to select the boot device).
- Access Advanced Options:
- Select Repair your computer → Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Command Prompt.
- Rebuild Boot Configuration Data (BCD):
- Type the following commands one at a time: bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd
- Restart the computer.
- Type the following commands one at a time: bootrec /fixmbr
Step 4: Reset BIOS to Default
If the issue persists, reset the BIOS to default settings:
- Enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
- Look for an option to Restore Defaults or Load Default Settings.
- Save and exit.
Step 5: Reinstall Windows
If none of the above steps work, you might need to reinstall Windows:
- Boot from the Windows USB.
- Select Install Now, choose the drive, and perform a clean installation.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
