Envy 15t-ae000 CT Touch
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I boot up my laptop, the pretty picture loads in the background but the field to enter my password does not show up and i can't see a cursor.  Touching/moving the touchpad does nothing.  Hitting the enter key does nothing.  If I plug in a mouse and click it and move it around, I eventually see the passoword bar and can enter the password and log in.  After login, the touchpad works fine, with our without the mouse.  I've tried to look for troubleshooting and driver updates.  I followed instructions to remove and reinstall the HP System Event Utility from the Programs list.  Not sure what to try next.  Thanks.

Hey there! @mprichar, Thank you for joining the HP Forums!

I understand you have touchpad issues with your laptop.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your laptop?

As you mentioned that the touchpad does not work in login screen but it works once you are into windows.

Try uninstalling the touchpad drivers from device manager and install the latest touchpad drivers and check if it helps.

Please find the link to update touchpad drivers.

Also, update the BIOS using this link.

If the issue still persists refer this document to further troubleshoot touchpad issues with your PC.

Thank you so much for replying!  Uninstalling the driver worked right up front (I'm not sure why, just grateful).  I did go ahead and reinstalled the driver and updated the BIOS.  Thank you so much!
