Hi @Kristine_02
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query.
I understand that you see an HP Sure Recover is enabled, but your system isn’t detecting a bootable hard drive in the UEFI boot order. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and fix this issue:
Check BIOS Boot Order
- Turn off your laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS Setup.
- Navigate to Boot Options.
- Check if the hard drive (or SSD) is listed as a UEFI boot option.
- If not, proceed to the next step.
- If it’s listed but not at the top, move it to the first position.
Disable HP Sure Recover (Temporary)
- In the BIOS Setup, go to Advanced > Secure Boot Configuration.
- Locate HP Sure Recover and disable it.
- Save and exit.
Check Storage Device Detection
- Re-enter BIOS Setup by pressing F10 at startup.
- Navigate to System Information or Storage Configuration.
- Check if the hard drive/SSD is detected.
- If it’s not listed, the storage drive may be disconnected or faulty.
- If detected, proceed to the next step.
Perform Hard Drive/SSD Reseat (If Not Detected)
- Power off your laptop and unplug it.
- Remove the back panel (if possible).
- Disconnect and reconnect the SSD/HDD securely.
- Restart and check BIOS again.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Turn on the laptop and immediately press F2.
- Run the System Test or Hard Drive Test.
- If it fails, your drive may need replacement.
Recover Bootloader (If Drive is Detected)
If the hard drive is detected but still won’t boot:
- Boot into Windows Recovery Mode using a USB recovery drive.
- Select Advanced Options > Command Prompt.
- Type the following and press Enter after each command:
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd - Restart your PC.
Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.
Take care and have an amazing day!
