Not Responding,goes blank after sleep

Pavilion 14-ce0068st
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The screen goes blank if I am not using for few minutes, laptop does not respond to keyboard or touch pad. It doesn't wake up...

I will have to press the power button for 7 seconds to shutdown and start again.

I thought, it is the problem of windows OS and tried booting Linux,  but it happens even in Linux.

I updated BIOS .

I updated all the drivers in Windows .

I even tried changing the power options, but still the problem persists.

@SUHAAS,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer goes blank after a few minutes of inactivity and after that, you are unable to wake up the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Press ‘Win + I’ shortcut keys to open Windows Settings app.

Click on ‘Update & Security’, then go to the ‘Troubleshoot’ section from the left-side menu.

Scroll downwards a bit and click on the ‘Power’ option.

Click on ‘Run the Troubleshooter’. It will start detecting the problems and if it founds, go ahead fixing it.

If you continue facing the issue, then follow the below steps.

On your keyboard, press ‘Windows key + R’ and type ‘Powercfg.cpl’ in it.

Hit the ‘Enter’ key to open power options in the control panel.

From the left-hand side, click on ‘Choose what the power buttons do’.

Then, click on the link ‘Change settings that are currently unavailable’.

From the bottom given power button options, uncheck the ‘Turn on fast startup’ option.

Click on ‘Save changes’ button.

If the issue persists, follow the below steps.

Go to the ‘Start’ menu and type ‘Control panel’ then hit the ‘Enter’ key.

From the top-right filter, choose ‘Large icons’ and navigate to the ‘Power Options’,

Click and open the ‘Power options’.

Select the power plan according to your requirement and click on ‘Change plan settings’.

Click on ‘Change advanced power settings’.

In the power options windows, click on the button ‘Restore plan defaults’.

Click on ‘Apply’ and then ‘OK’ button.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

@SUHAAS,

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Windows Update settings.

  2. Click Check for updates. If there are any available updates, they begin installing automatically.

    Windows Update window

  3. After the updates install, restart your computer, if necessary.

Advanced options

Open the Advanced options menu for additional settings for Windows Update.

  1. In the Windows Update window, click Advanced options.

    Choose Advanced options

  2. In the Update options area, you can manage the delivery and installation of updates:

    • Turn on Receive updates for other Microsoft products when you update Windows to have the computer automatically update other Microsoft products drives and apps when updating Windows.

    • Turn on Download updates over metered connections (extra charges may apply) to allow updates to download over a metered connection.

    • Turn on Restart this device as soon as possible when a restart is required to install an update. Windows displays a notice prior to restarting. The computer must be turned on and plugged in for this option.
