Hello yesterday I got the TPM error and once the laptop loaded I was unable to login due to Pin issues which I resolved via Microsoft. The system was ok all day today I started it and it gives me a black screen with white cursor there is a bit of starting sound but not loading. Last week I had a firmware update and my error came after I installed another new update.

Hi @Mantru,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When encountering a TPM error and the system fails to boot correctly after a firmware update, it can be concerning. Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve these issues:

Hard Reset the Laptop:

  • Turn off your laptop.
  • Disconnect all external devices and the charger.
  • Remove the battery if it is removable.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect everything and attempt to power on the laptop again.

Access BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and immediately press the key specific to your laptop brand (often F2, F10, ESC, or DEL) to enter BIOS or UEFI settings.
  • Check if the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) settings are correctly enabled. Sometimes, resetting them to default may help.
  • Ensure that the boot sequence is correctly set for your primary boot drive.

Safe Mode Boot:

  • Attempt to boot into Safe Mode to isolate if there's a problem with software drivers.
  • If you can access Safe Mode, try uninstalling the recent updates or restoring the system to a prior point where it was working correctly.

Reset BIOS/UEFI to Default:

  • Within the BIOS/UEFI menu, look for options to reset settings to default or factory settings.
  • Save the changes and try to restart your laptop.

Rollback Recent Firmware Update:

  • If accessible, explore options to roll back to an earlier version of your firmware, if available.
  • Sometimes manufacturers provide utilities to revert firmware updates.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
