Hi @Roxypoo

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for reaching out, and I’m truly sorry you’re facing this issue—it’s understandably frustrating when your laptop won’t respond at all.

Let’s walk through a few structured steps to help identify and resolve the problem.

1. Perform a Hard Reset

This helps clear any residual charge or firmware lock:

  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove any external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  • If your laptop has a removable battery, take it out.
  • Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power adapter (without battery if removable) and try powering on.

2. Check Power Source and Adapter

  • Plug the adapter into a different wall outlet.
  • Inspect the charging LED—if it’s off or blinking, the adapter may be faulty.
  • If available, test with a known working HP adapter.

3. Look for Signs of Life

  • Listen for fan noise or drive spin.
  • Check if the power LED or keyboard backlight flashes briefly.
  • If the screen remains black, try connecting to an external monitor to rule out display failure.

4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

If the laptop powers on but doesn’t boot:

  • Power on and immediately press F2 repeatedly to launch HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  • Run the System Test and Battery Test.

If the Issue Persists

If there’s no response after these steps, the issue may be due to:

  • A failed battery or power circuit
  • A motherboard fault
  • A corrupted BIOS or firmware lock
