I recently had to install a new battery and took the opportunity to upgrade the main memory from 16 to 32 Gb. The first time I booted up it said there was a change to the memory configuration, usually caused by REMOVING memory, and gave me the choice to change the boot setup to match the new RAM (note that I bought the memory module as specified in the Service and Repair Manual and it snapped right into place). I did that and noticed it was taking quite a long time to boot, but eventually it did. I checked the memory in SYSTEM INFORMATION and it shows as 32 Gb, as it should.
It has continued to take a long time to boot up, as much as 5 minutes. At first there is a black screen, then the HP Logo splash screen. Finally, the boot completes and everything seems to run normally after that.
