HP 15-f2000 Laptop PC series (277G5AV)

Hi! This afternoon I was using my notebook without any issue, I turned it off and when I tried to reboot it there was no response.

Without the AC there was no reaction but after plugging it I noticed a red & white light beeping next to the battery port.

I attempted to do the hard resets with no results.

The light sequence is currently a long red light followed by a short white one and that sequence repeats.

I ended up opening the laptop and unplugged the battery. By doong so, the sequence changed, theres no longer a red light but instead theres only a long white light but the notebook didnt respond either.

can someone help me with this issue? I guess that removing the battery removed the red light but what about the long white one?

I used the laptop everyday without issues, the components seems to be clean and I cant spot any defect on them.

the model is: HP Laptop Model 15-dy2054la

Thanks!!!

Hi @Fedeowen,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how concerning it must be to suddenly face this issue, especially when your laptop has been working fine until now. Let’s work through this to identify and resolve the problem.

  • Have there been any recent updates, power fluctuations, or physical impacts to the laptop that might have caused this issue?
  • When you attempt to power it on, do you hear any fan noise, feel vibrations, or see the screen backlight flicker?
  • Have you tried using a different AC adapter or power source to rule out issues with the charger?

Let's try these steps.

Perform a Hard Reset Again:

  • Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery.
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery and AC adapter, and try powering it on.

Check the Power Adapter and Battery Health:

  • Verify that the AC adapter is functioning by testing it with another compatible laptop, or use a multimeter to check the output voltage.
  • If possible, try a different AC adapter to rule out charging issues.
  • Inspect the battery for swelling or damage. If it looks defective, consider replacing it.

Observe and Decode the Light Pattern:

  • The long red followed by short white light likely indicates a specific hardware issue.
  • Refer to the HP Diagnostic LED Code Chart for your model to determine the exact issue. It may point to a component failure like the CPU, RAM, or motherboard.

Reseat Internal Components:

  • Open the laptop carefully and reseat the RAM modules, ensuring they are properly aligned and clicked into place.
  • Inspect the internal connectors for the battery, storage drive, and other components to ensure they are secure.

Attempt to Boot Without the Battery (AC Power Only):

  • Disconnect the battery and try turning on the laptop with just the AC adapter connected. If it powers on, the battery may be faulty.
  • Conversely, try booting with only the battery (AC unplugged) to test the AC adapter’s role in the issue.

If None of These Steps Resolve the Issue, The long white light may indicate a motherboard or power circuit problem. In this case, this unit might need service.

You may also refer to this document for more information.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
