Hi @Singam5,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The System Fan 90B error on your HP notebook typically indicates an issue with the cooling fan, which may be malfunctioning or blocked. Addressing this issue requires checking the fan and ensuring the system is not overheating.
Regarding the HP Recovery Key, this could indicate that your system is encrypted using BitLocker (common in Windows). After the fan issue, if you're prompted for a recovery key, it could mean the system detected an unexpected hardware change and is asking for BitLocker verification.
Here are steps to address both issues:
Fixing the Fan 90B Error:
- Power down the laptop and unplug it.
- Clean the vents and fan area: Using compressed air, gently blow into the vents to remove dust that may be obstructing airflow.
- Check fan functionality: If you're comfortable, you could open the back panel of the laptop and check if the fan is damaged or blocked.
- Update the BIOS: If the fan is functioning and clean, updating your system's BIOS could resolve the issue.
- Go to HP's official website, search for your model, and look for the latest BIOS update.
If the error persists, the fan might need repair or replacement.
Retrieving the HP Recovery Key:
Check your Microsoft account: If BitLocker is enabled, your recovery key is likely saved in your Microsoft account. To retrieve it:
- Visit https://account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey
- Sign in with your Microsoft account and locate the recovery key associated with your device.
Other locations to check:
- USB drive: If you saved the key to a USB drive.
- Printed copy: Check if you printed the recovery key when setting up BitLocker.
Once you retrieve the key, you can enter it to unlock your device.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
