Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.

I've got a strange problem with my notebook. Every time I want to turn it on, laptop shuts down after a second and a second later automatically tries to start again, but this time with success. It's like in a car, when engine starts after second try, not first like it should be.

Windows 10 works correctly, I don't see other problems or errors.

I thought it moght be battery. Battery has already 8 years but still allows to watch around 1,5h video.

But it doesn't matter if I turn on laptop with battery or w/o battery.

Maybe is a BIOS problem, but I don't know where to look for a solution.

Thanks in advance for help! 🙂

I would like to add one important thing.

The problem seems to be more complicated.

Every time I shut down laptop I cannot turn it on. I hear the ventilation starts but stops after a second. And again and again the same.

One thing helps - I took out the RAM and after that laptop starts (after second try what I descirbe earlier). I've got 2x RAM,

When I shut down laptop adain, it doesn't want to start. I put RAM inside again and laptop starts.

Now, when I want to turn on laptop, first I have to switch RAMs and then push the turn on bottom and laptop starts after second try...

Everything works but I've got a problem. Why? Maybe it's a BIOS problem? I updated BIOS correctly and I don't see an error. Should I back to older version from 2012 (I see few versions and don't know which exactly)? Or should I stay with new one from 2016?

I changed also old HDD to new SSD, but in my opinion this is not a problem.

@Błażej

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's do a BIOS recovery: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02693833

Let's also do a hardware test:

Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.

Click Extensive Test.

Click Run once, or Loop until error.

While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.

If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the "Accept as solution" button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Thanks!

Have a great day!
