HP Notebook: 15-bs076nr
So the HP assistant sends a notification I must do an HP update. With it plugged in, I let it run, doing nothing other on the device. The device never went back on, only a black screen (thankfully not blue) and maintaining power.
Now HP mandates I pay for phone support for what ever their update did to the device that HP mandated I install.
There was absolutely nothing wrong with the device previously than it being an older model and of course now out of warranty. So what do I do now?

Hi @Lnn11,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Notebook. If your notebook is not booting up after an HP update, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.
- Perform a hard reset: Disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery (if possible), and hold down the power button for about 15 seconds. Then, reconnect the power adapter (or battery) and try turning on the notebook again.
- Check the power source: Ensure that the power adapter is properly connected to both the notebook and a functional power outlet. If possible, try using a different power adapter to rule out any issues with the adapter itself.
- Remove external devices: Disconnect any external devices, such as USB drives, printers, or external monitors, from your notebook. Sometimes, incompatible devices or drivers can prevent the system from booting up.
- Reset BIOS settings: Access the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) of your notebook by pressing a specific key during startup (usually F2 or Delete). Once in the BIOS, look for an option to reset the settings to default or optimized defaults. Save the changes and exit the BIOS, then check if the notebook boots up.
- Perform a system restore: If your notebook has recently received an update, it's possible that the update caused a conflict with the system. Try performing a system restore to a point before the update was installed. This process will revert your system settings to an earlier state, potentially resolving the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
