Hello i have a problem where my battery died all of a sudden and now it can't be charged its always 0% and I have to plug my laptop into the charger all the time, and when I disconnect the charger  and plug it back in and turn my laptop it shows me a cmos reset screen and my laptop turns off and on about three times then works back normally it only happens when I disconnect my laptop for my charger even tho when it's shut down. and plug it back in. should I be concerned about the cmos reset three times or no?.

Hi:

The problem is that since there isn't a separate CMOS/RTC battery that is used in notebooks with external removable batteries, the main internal battery also serves as the CMOS/RTC battery.

With no CMOS battery when you shut down the notebook, it loses the system clock settings and any changes you may have made in the BIOS to their defaults.

As long as you don't mind going through the annoying ritual of having to reset the time and date every time you turn on the notebook, that should not be an issue.

However, in order for the problem to go away, you will need to replace the internal battery.

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

Chapter 3 indicates that two battery models were used in the model series, so if you know what battery your notebook came with you can order a replacement battery.

Battery
6 cell, 69 Wh (includes thermal pad)        HP part # L48497-006
3 cell, 52 Wh (includes battery rubber)    HP part # L48495-006
