I have change stock NVME SSD on brand new Samsung 970 Pro, before installation in notebook, i have enable IEE1667 BitLocker Hardware encryption in Magician software.

In BIOS have checked and Allow OPAL Hard Drive SID Authentication, did Secure Erase by HP BIOS and don't tuch at all DriveLock/Automatic DriveLock (suggest that it was disabled from factory by default).

Than install Windows 11 OS and from gpedit.msc enable hardware encryption and disable software, than succesfully activate BitLocker and encrypt disk by SED fucntion of SSD.

Now about BUG with notebook BIOS, i have decrypt SSD (and unlock) from BitLocker:

If try to did SED from BIOS — BIOS ask DriveLock password;

If than disable (remove mark) Allow OPAL Hard Drive SID Authentication and reboot — Notebook stuck at asking DriveLock password at boot, and i can't even enter in to the BIOS.

Seems, that drive is locked by HP DriveLock function? Not at all. I did not activate this function and BIOS has no password at all, so — i don know what password to unlocking from DriveLock! Samsung 970 Pro is absolutely new out of the box.

But, if remove SSD (or change for another SSD without Hardware Encryption), than enter in BIOS, activate  Allow OPAL Hard Drive SID Authentication and install my, as Notebook think "DriveLocked" SSD — it succesfully boot or enter in to the BIOS! I can encrypt/decrypt SSD or did OS installation without any promts from HP DriveLocker.

Point is, if remove mark from Allow OPAL Hard Drive SID Authentication notebook stucks at DriveLock, even DriveLock is disabled by default. Need remove SSD, enter in BIOS and enable OPAL, than install disk and use it without problem. If BIOS after upgrade reset to defaults (with disabled OPAL), DriveLocker mistakenly will lock systems which has enabled OPAL Hard Drive SID Authentication and use hardware encryption (SED) on NVME SSD!

And i can't even change password for DriveLock or disable this function, because DriveLock/Automatic DriveLock menu is empty when Allow OPAL Hard Drive SID Authentication enabled, when disabled OPAL i get only promt for DriveLock password, and can't enter in BIOS to manage DriveLock.

Seems that a serious BUG in BIOS with SSD/Drive Lock messing up, and this must be fixed!

P.S.

Seems that very similar issue:
