So, I have an HP Pavilion dv9000 with Windows Vista Home Premium that my parents gave me, because they dropped it years back and broke the hinge, and now I fixed it. As soon as I powered it on for the first time, it showed a screen that said HP Invent, which I assume is normal. Then the screen went black for a few seconds, then showed a screen that said:
Windows Error Recovery
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause,
If Windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly, Startup Repair can help diagnose and fix the problem. If power was interrupted during startup, choose Start Windows Normally.
Launch Startup Repair (recommended)
Start Windows Normally
When I select startup repair, it shows a bar loading and says “Windows is loading files…), but then the screen goes black and I can’t do anything. When I select start Windows normally, it shows a blue screen of death saying:
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent harm to your computer.
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
If this is the first time you’ve seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any Windows updates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching and shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press f8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.
Technical information:
***STOP:0x00000050 (0xFFFFFFE8, 0x00000001, 0x82A49D23, 0x00000000)
And then when I do a Memory Diagnostic, it stalls forever and freezes out the computer at 98%. When I try to put it into Safe Mode, it stalls at the command “windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys.“, which is super annoying. I don’t know if my computer just doesn’t want me to be able to relax and do computer stuff, but what I do know is that I need some help!
