Hi @Mkong66
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I understand the concern. Since your HP OmniBook 7 is only about 2 months old, the power appears to come on but the display remains completely black even after performing a hard reset.
Let's work through a few troubleshooting steps to help identify whether the issue is related to the display, graphics initialization, or startup process.
Verify the notebook is powered on:
- Connect the HP power adapter directly to a wall outlet.
- Press the power button once.
- Check whether the power LED, charging LED, keyboard backlight, or Caps Lock light turns on.
Check for display activity:
- Increase the screen brightness several times using the brightness keys.
- In a dim room, look closely at the screen for any faint HP logo, cursor, or backlight glow.
Force a graphics refresh:
- Press Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B together.
- If Windows is running in the background, you may hear a short beep and the display may refresh.
Test with an external monitor or TV:
- Connect an external display using the available video port.
- Press Windows + P a few times and wait several seconds between presses.
- If the external display works, the issue may be isolated to the notebook display assembly.
Perform a startup reset:
- Disconnect all external devices, including USB devices, printers, docking stations, and memory cards.
- Leave only the AC adapter connected.
- Turn the notebook on and observe for any light blink patterns from the Caps Lock or Power LED.
Check for diagnostic indicators:
- If the Caps Lock light blinks, note the number of blinks and whether the pattern repeats.
- Also let us know if the fan spins, keyboard backlight turns on, or if you hear any startup sounds.
Please share:
- The full HP OmniBook 7 model number.
- Whether the power LED is on.
- Any Caps Lock or Power LED blink pattern.
- Whether an external monitor shows a picture.
- Whether you hear the fan or Windows startup sounds.
These details will help us determine the next troubleshooting steps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
