HP Pavillion x360 14-CD0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi Everyone!

i have an HP pavillion x360 convertible laptop. It came with a 16GB optane memory and 1TB HDD. I wanted to upgrade my memory to SSD. So i bought crucial Nvme M2 500gb SSD.
As you would expect, I have to remove my optane memory to fix the new SSD.

Unfortunately, before replacing the memory I did not uninstall the Optane memory from the system. I just opened my laptop, got rid of the optane and installed the SSD instead.

However, when I start my laptop, now my windows 10 64Bit crashes and throws a boot error -‘Boot Device Not Found’, Please install operating system on your computer. Hard Disk (3F0)

I tried to put back the optane memory and restart the windows but i get the same error.

Now is there any way to fix my old operating system running so that i can install my ssd the clean way by uninstalling the optane?

I am thinking if thats not possible, i will just insert a bootable Windows 10USB and install the new OS on new SSD and recover my data from old HDD. But if theres a way to avoid this I would really appreciate.

@AjitKh Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are getting the Boot Device Not Found(3F0) error.

In that case, perform the hard drive test and check.

1) Shutdown the computer.

2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.

3) Press F2 once.

4) Go to the Component test.

5) From the list, run the Hard Drive (extensive) test.

If the issue still persists, You have to replace the hard drive.

I would suggest you contact our phone support. They will help you.
