trying to convert an old pavilion dm4 from legacy to uefi

Converting the BIOS from Legacy to UEFI on an older HP Pavilion dm4 is possible, but it depends on whether the laptop's firmware supports UEFI mode. 

 

If your BIOS does not support UEFI, upgrading to UEFI is not possible without replacing the motherboard.

 

However, there is no official documentation confirming that the Pavilion dm4 has a UEFI-compatible BIOS.

 

There are third-party guides that discuss converting Legacy BIOS to UEFI without reinstalling Windows. However, proceed with caution—modifying BIOS settings incorrectly can render your system unbootable.
