Product: HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg2000 (4U8D9AV)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

This morning the PC was in "Locked" black screen and it won't take my security code. I don't know how it happened! Any suggestions?

Usually, this happens because Windows got stuck waking up from sleep mode, or a background process/graphics driver froze right at the login overlay.[ref_1, ref_2 ]Here are the quickest ways to wake it back up:
Quick Fixes to Try Right Now

  • Use the shortcut: Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Delete to see if it forces the proper password/login box to pop up.[ref_1, ref_2]
  • Hard restart: Press and hold your PC’s power button for about 10 to 15 seconds until the whole machine completely shuts off. Wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on.[ref_1, ref_2]
  • Unplug accessories: Disconnect any extra USB devices (like external drives, extra controllers, or docking stations) in case something is dragging down the boot or lock screen.
